Gillian McDonald Producing Gorgeous Countrysides in Watercolour.
I was born in Scotland and later married there I have a real love of the Scottish countryside. The quote Absence makes the heart grow fonder is a saying I really relate to and it wasn’t until the other day that I was searching about our areas gallery that I viewed the paintings of Gillian McDonald a painter that is particularly skilled in encompassing the ambience of gorgeous countryside.
Her beautiful pictures are amazing capturing the nature of the countryside but nestle in structures that have a safety and solitude which gives the essence of untouched regions. Gillian McDonald studied at the London college of art but developed her joy for the medium of water colour in Indonesia. She is renowned for her fantastic use of colour which really deepens the essence of the scene she is attempting to show.
It was really nice to see the beautiful crags of Ben More at the back of the scene with buildings placed in the warm and undulating landscape spread out before it. I love the fact that in Gillian McDonalds pictures you frequently discover detail in a flower or blade of grass that ties In so well with other parts of the picture. I understand that Gillian McDonald herself is an avid gardener and walker, often walking different parts of the country searching for her next picture to paint.
I understand Gillian McDonald now resides in Wales where she paints her work focusing on her water colours and painting pieces that are loved the world over.
